About Our Therapist
Christi Burns, CHT
Christi was born in New Orleans and was raised in Covington, LA. She graduated Magna cum Laude in Occupational Therapy from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA in 2000. She completed hand therapy specialty rotations at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, MD and at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, LA. Over her 26 years as an Occupational Therapist, Christi has practiced in the areas of Outpatient Rehabilitation, Inpatient Rehabilitation, Acute Care, and Home Health. Early in her career, she and her husband Daniel moved to Chicago, IL, where she continued her focus in Hand Therapy, as well as being trained in Industrial Rehabilitation and Work Hardening, performing ergonomic training and Post Offer Employment Testing for small and large companies including UPS and Chrysler. After returning to Louisiana in 2007, her emphasis has been on Hand Therapy and treatment of the upper quadrant with focus on orthopedic and neurological impairments.
Christi finds joy in treating the whole person, addressing the physical as well as psychological components of rehabilitation and recovery. She enjoys getting to know her patients on a personal level and ensures to incorporate their interests and individual goals into the therapy treatment plan. On a personal note, one of her favorite aspects of being a therapist is learning cultural and family traditions, and especially recipes from her patients.
Christi enjoys cooking, traveling, arranging flowers, and spending time with her family and friends. She resides in Covington, LA with her husband and four children.
